1929Irish acceptance for Imperial Airways First Official Air Mail from England to Karachi, India on 31 March 1929. Cancelled Dublin (Baile Átha Cliath) '28 MR 29' and backstamped Karachi '6 APR 29' on delivery. Specially prepared Imperial Airways envelope posted in Dublin, Ireland and franked with three colour franking of Irish overprint adhesives, 1/2d, 1 1/2d and 6d. This was an extension of the original London to Cairo route that had been pioneered just three years before. Interim stops were: Paris, Basle, Genoa, Rome, Naples, Athens, Crete, Alexandria, Gaza, Baghdad, Basra, Bushire, Lingeh, Djask and Gwadar. |
