The 20¢ franking on this 1926 inaugural cover could have been used
on a combination rate cover that traversed one route and two zones.
So bit of guidance is 'Don't mistake round trip look-alikes as confusion covers.'
But since the subject of round trip covers has come up, we'd like to ask a related question:
Does the round trip have to be completed on inaugural day
so that a cover qualifies as an inaugural round trip?
When inaugurated CAM-4 had only one eastbound and one westbound flight scheduled per day.
The above eastbound cover was not scheduled to arrive in Salt Lake City
until after the inaugural westbound flight to Los Angeles had departed.
Therefore, a round trip on inaugural day wasn't possible.
Since what happened - the cover was returned to Los Angeles on the next day -
was the best that was possible, does this piece qualify as a round trip inaugural cover?
Or is this cover 'uncollectible?'
